Car carrier Grande Texas debuts on the Thames

The brand-new 65,148gt PCTC (Pure Car & Truck Carrier) Grande Texas made her maiden call on the Thames on 18 March 2021.

The new ship is the latest to join the Grimaldi Group fleet, and is equipped with the latest technology to reduce harmful emissions and is pictured making her maiden call to Tilbury docks.

Grimaldi Group took delivery of the ship in January 2021, and she is the sixth of a series of seven car carrier units commissioned from the Chinese shipyard Yangfan located in Zhoushan.

Grande Texas measures 199.9m by 36.45m and has a service speed of 19 knots. The vessel, which flies the Italian flag, is among the largest PCTCs on the market: she can transport around 7,600CEU (Car Equivalent Units) or alternatively 5,400 linear meters of rolling stock and 2,737 CEU.
