Cargo vessel Ruby makes it to Great Yarmouth

The situation with the cargo vessel Ruby (see SM, Nov), which was refused entry by a number of ports for damage repairs which necessitated the prior discharge her potentially dangerous cargo, was resolved in late October when she was allowed into Great Yarmouth, berthing in the port’s outer harbour.

The bulk cargo of ammonium nitrate on board Ruby, stowed in jumbo bags, was then unloaded and reloaded into the Barbados-flagged cargo vessel Zimrida, which arrived empty from Algeria at 0800 on 29 October, berthing adjacent to the Malta-flagged Ruby.

Both vessels are owned by Samin Shipping of Tartous, Syria, and managed by Serenity Ship Management DMCC, United Arab Emirates. It is not currently known where the hull damage to Ruby will be repaired.
