CARNIVAL: Splendor returns to service

Carnival’s 2006-built Carnival Splendor, which was damaged by an engine room fire off Mexico in November (see SM, Jan/Feb 2011), departed San Diego for San Francisco under her own power on 21 January. She received over US$56 million in additional repairs at the latter city, which has the only drydock on the US West Coast large enough to accommodate the 950ft by 144ft ship, before resuming her cruise schedule in late February.
