CMA CGM take delivery of LNG-powered CMA CGM Sainte Anne

Container shipping company CMA CGM took delivery of the LNG-powered CMA CGM Sainte Anne during January.

The vessel is the tenth vessel in a series of 7,300 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) containerships, and joins sisterships CMA CGM Fort Diamant, CMA CGM Fort Bourbon, and CMA CGM Fort James in the company’s fleet.

‘This vessel will join the ACSA 1 service, a key route linking Asia and South America, further strengthening global trade connections,’ CMA CGM said in a social media post on 16 January.

Liquefied natural gas (LNG) technology is central to the design of Sainte Anne. LNG significantly reduces greenhouse gas emissions, particulate matter, and sulfur oxides, making it a cleaner alternative to conventional fuels.

This move aligns with global efforts to transition the shipping industry towards a more sustainable future. The vessel’s environmental profile exemplifies the proactive measures the maritime sector can take to minimise its carbon footprint while maintaining operational efficiency.

CMA CGM took delivery of the ‘fuel cell-ready’ CMA CGM Escurial, the final vessel in a series of 10 LNG-fuelled, 2,000 TEU newbuild containerships.
