Condor Ferries ro-ro upgrades

After replacing two 86m Incats with the 105m trimaran Condor Liberation on services from Poole to the Channel Islands, Condor Ferries’ next spending plans involve upgrading conventional vessels maintaining services from Portsmouth to Guernsey and Jersey.

Ro-ro freighter Arrow is to be brought in on sub-charter from the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company to stand in while 13,460gt ro-pax ferry Commodore Clipper, introduced in 1999 and with space for 500 passengers and 1,265 lane metres of vehicles, is dry-docked from 6 September to 9 October, with 1996-built/1,250 lane metre ro-ro Commodore Goodwill following from 10 October to 11 November.

DuPont Sustainable Solutions, through its subsidiary Belco Technologies, is contracted to supply four single-stream open loop gas cleaning units for the pair, which will allow them to meet all IMO Annex VI sulphur requirements while continuing to operate on heavy fuel oil.
