Copenhagen Malmö Port (CMP) sets new record for winter cruise calls

A record number of cruise calls and guests is expected during November through January in Visby and Copenhagen.

CMP has new records in sight and expects approximately 50,000 passengers and 18 cruise calls to Copenhagen and Visby during the typically off-season months of November 2023 through January 2024. These are very positive news for both guests and the destinations.

For Copenhagen it is also a unique chance for visitors to experience the Danish capital in new ways and for visitors to the medieval Unesco world heritage city of Visby to experience the Swedish island of Gotland during Winter.

For local businesses and cultural institutions, it is an opportunity to experience visitors in what is normally a slower season for tourism.

More cruise lines are choosing to call Visby and Copenhagen during late autumn and winter – either as one-off cruises – or as AidaNova of Aida Cruises’ winter deployment in the Nordic region, calling at Copenhagen seven times, and Hapag Lloyd’s Hanseatic Nature’s winter deployment with five calls to Copenhagen and Visby.

Furthermore, a high number of cruise ships are calling CMP around the festive turn of the year 2023/2024: this December, CMP expects seven Christmas calls in Copenhagen, two in Visby and in addition, two cruise ships are expected to spend New Year’s Eve in Copenhagen.
