DOVER-CALAIS: Channel ro-ro laid up

P&O Ferries took Dover-Calais freight vessel European Seaway (1999/22,986gt) out of service on 30 September. The company explained: ‘This commercial decision will help us better match capacity to current levels of freight demand in the Short Sea sector, pending the arrival of the much larger Spirit of France later in the autumn.’ Completed in Germany in 1991, the 120-truck European Seaway was the first of four ferries ordered in Bremerhaven for the former Zeebrugge route operated by P&O.
