Bibby Marine Services Limited, part of Great Britain’s Bibby Line Group, will take delivery of the purpose-built Service Operations Vessel (SOV) Bibby WaveMaster 1 from Holland’s Damen Group this month for North Sea work.
Designed for offshore wind farm construction and support projects, the 90m by 20m newbuild is capable of providing turbine access in wave heights of up to 3m while staying at sea for over one month.
A key to its performance is a special gangway, served by an elevator with six landings, that allows technicians to transfer to turbine towers from the vessel quickly and safely.
The new ship’s first major contract will be with Holland’s Total E&P Nederland which is to charter the vessel from April to October 2018, with options to extend for up to 3 years.
