Former Pacific Explorer joins Resorts World Cruises as Star Scorpio

Resorts World Cruises is set to expand its fleet with the addition of Star Scorpio, with 1,800-guest capacity, which has been sailing as Pacific Explorer fir P&O Australia, and will transition from the Carnival Corporation brand in early 2025.

Before commencing operations, the ship, built in 1997 and previously Dawn Princess, will undergo a $50 million refurbishment. This will make it the third ship in Resorts World’s fleet, alongside the Genting Dream and Resorts World One.

Starting on 25 March Star Scorpio will homeport at the Singapore Cruise Centre, with itineraries through mid-July including destinations like Jakarta and Medan in Indonesia, Melaka and Pulau Redang in Malaysia, Bangkok and Ko Samui in Thailand, and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam.

From Singapore, passengers will have multiple itinerary options in 2025, such as a Melaka-Jakarta cruises, Bangkok-Ko Samui cruises, shorter Melaka-Medan cruises and Melaka-Ho Chi Minh cruises.

Besides the Singapore homeport, passengers can embark on round-trip cruises at the dual homeports in Jakarta, Bangkok, Melaka, and Ho Chi Minh City. Star Scorpio will homeport in Ho Chi Minh City in July for sic-day/five-night Singapore-Melaka cruises.
