Twin cargo ships representing American President Lines’ first move towards dedicated container ship tonnage are being broken up for scrap in the US, the 1961-built President Lincoln as Lincoln at Mare Island, California and sistership President Tyler as President at Brownsville, Texas. Both vessels were designed by noted US naval architect George G. Sharp as offshoots of the C-4 Mariner class, each having a single cellular cargo hold situated forward of the bridge.
