Langh Ship takes delivery of new container vessel Ingrid

Finnish shipping company Langh Ship has recently welcomed a new addition to its fleet with the delivery of a container vessel named Ingrid. The ceremony took place in China on 15 March 2025.

This vessel marks the first in a series of 1,200TEU feeder containerships constructed by PaxOcean Zhoushan. Once operational, Ingrid will be chartered by UK-based Borchard Lines.

The design of the vessel has been carefully optimised to handle 45-foot containers efficiently, both within its holds and on the deck. Langh Ship collaborated with the Shanghai Merchant Ship Design and Research Institute (SDARI) to develop this cutting-edge vessel.

Ingrid boasts several unique features, such as innovative hatch covers that can open in three sections along the vessel’s beam. This design allows enhanced accessibility to the cargo holds, even if not all containers on the deck are unloaded.

The cargo holds are equipped with adjustable cell guides, allowing seamless adjustments between 40-foot and 45-foot container positions.

Furthermore, the vessel’s hull lines have been finely tuned to maximize cargo capacity while reducing energy consumption, all while maintaining a potential speed of 18 knots when needed.

The vessel incorporates advanced technologies supplied by Langh Ship’s sister company, Langh Tech. Among these is a hybrid scrubber that can operate continuously in a closed-loop mode without restrictions, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.

Additionally, the exhaust gas cleaning system is prepared for future installation of Langh Tech’s onboard carbon capture system. This system aims to reduce CO2 emissions by up to 50% by capturing CO2 from exhaust gas and converting it into sodium carbonate.

This substance can be used in various industrial applications. Impressively, the carbon capture system can also be operational when burning biofuels, potentially achieving zero CO2 emissions in the future.

The delivery of Ingrid represents a significant step forward in environmentally conscious and efficient maritime technology, showcasing Langh Ship’s commitment to innovation and sustainability.
