Large Chinese ferry ordered

China’s Shandong Huanghai shipyard has won an order from compatriot operator Lianyungang C-K Ferry Company for a 35,000gt  RoPax ferry capable of carrying  1,080 passengers for delivery by the forth quarter of next year.

The Chinese ferry company connects the Chinese ports of Pyeongtaek and Lianyungang wth the South Korean port of Inchon using several ships, including the 16,071gt cargo/passenger vessel Zi Yu Lan.

Built by Germany’s MTW-Schiffswerft GmbH Wismar, the 22-year-old combination ship Zi Yu Lan  pictured may be replaced in the  Lianyungang C-K Ferry fleet by a 35,000gt newbuild. Credit: Jim Shaw
