NEW BUILDS: LNG-fuelled fish feeders

Two more LNG-fuelled fish feed transporters are to be completed for operation in Norway following the earlier delivery of Høydal from Turkey’s Tersan Shipyard. The latest two, to be built by Fiskerstrand BLRT AS in Ålesund, have been ordered by Egil Ulvan Rederi AS and will operate on a long-term charter to Marine Harvest ASA, which has just opened a new fish feed factory at Bjugn, Norway.

The twin vessels will be built to Multi Maritime’s MM 70 CC LNG design and will utilise an advanced LNG-gas-electric propulsion system. Fiskerstrand, known for its LNG ferry construction, recently completed conversion of the former car ferry Fjalir into the world’s first LNG-gas bunkering tanker (see this issue). JS
