A larger than usual number of cruise ships is heading for Monaco during the weekend of 28/29 May for the Formula One Grand Prix. They will be docked or anchored in Monte Carlo or nearby in Nice, Cannes and Villefranche. Most are on corporate charter, as indeed will be a number of mega-yachts, but others are on scheduled calls as part of a Western Mediterranean itinerary.
Silverseas’ Silver Spirit (2009/ 36,000gt), Azamara Club Cruises’ Azamara Journey (2000/30,277gt), Windstar’s Wind Surf (1989/14,745gt) and her sistership, Club Med’s Club Med 2 (1992/14,893gt), Seabourn Cruise Lines’ Seabourn Legend (1992/9,961gt), Ponant Cruises’ Le Ponant (1991/1,489gt) and Star Clippers’ Star Flyer (1992/2,298gt) will be in Monte Carlo. Princess Cruises’ Ocean Princess (1999/30,277gt) and Hapag Lloyd’s Europa (1999/ 28,437gt) will be moored in Cannes, Sea Cloud’s Sea Cloud II (2000/3,849gt) and Swan Hellenic’s Minerva (1996/12,231gt) at Nice, and Pullmantur’s Sovereign (1988/73,192gt) in Villefranche.
