Multipurpose cargo vessel handed over to Vertom Group

Thecla Bodewes Shipyards has delivered another multipurpose (MPP) dry cargo vessel to the Vertom Group. The yard has officially handed over the 7,280 dwt Vertom Anette at the Harlingen facility.

Vertom Anette is the fifth vessel in a series of 12 for Vertom Group. The LABRAX series features a future-proof diesel-electric propulsion system, which ensures efficient fuel consumption and reduced emissions.

The LABRAX ships, measuring 118m by 14.3m, with a 6.2m draft, have been custom developed for Vertom’s requirements. The completely box-shaped cargo holds of 329,700cuft ensure maximum loading flexibility and cargo intake. CFD optimisation of the hull design has been performed for fuel-efficient speed-power performance.

The propulsion system enables the vessel to achieve EEDI numbers which are well below the IMO standards. This modular propulsion concept is designed to be ready for future developments, through the ability to make the vessels’ propulsion methanol-electric or hydrogen-electric and to further reduce carbon emissions.

The first vessel of the series, Vertom Patty, was launched in September 2022. She was followed by Vertom Cyta, Vertom Tomma and Vertom Anne Marit. The installed propulsion power on board Vertom Anette is significantly lower compared to vessels  with the same cargo capacity and conventional propulsion.

Equipped with the latest navigation systems, energy-efficient propulsion system, and environmentally friendly features, Vertom Anette is designed to set new standards in operational efficiency and environmental stewardship.

The handing over ceremony took place in Harlingen seaport with representatives of both companies in attendance.
