New ferries for Baltic routes in build

Two new ferries are being built at the Remontowa shipyard in Gdansk for Polish Shipping and Polish Baltic Shipping, which will significantly increase the competitiveness of Polish shipowners on the Świnoujście-Ystad and Świnoujście-Trelleborg routes.

The two ships are yard numbers NB101 and NB102, and have now been launched; the first will enter service as early as next year.

The ferries under construction are approximately 195m in length, with a beam of 32m. With approximately 4,100 lane metres of vehicle decks, they have a top speed of 19 knots and an carry a maximum of 400 passengers.

 The first of the ferries will be named Jantar Unity and is already in the process of have the interiors fitted out.
