New PCTC gains Digital Smart Ship notation New PCTC gains Digital Smart Ship notation

Japanese classification society ClassNK has granted its Digital Smart Ship notation for the new LNG-fueled Pure Car Truck Carrier (PCTC) Sakura Leader recently completed by the Shin Kurushima Dockyard Company for compatriot owner NYK Line.

The 18,800gt ship, the first LNG-fueled PCTC built in Japan, makes use of leading edge digital technology for energy efficiency analysis, machinery monitoring, onboard data processing and data transmission to shore.

With a capacity for approximately 7,000 cars, it will be employed transporting vehicles worldwide for the Toyota Motor Corporation.
