Oldendorff Carriers orders bulk cariers

Germany’s Oldendorff Carriers has ordered five Sdari 82 type Kamsarmax bulk carriers from China’s Hantong shipyard, which recently delivered the 209,000dwt Newcastlemax vessels Heide Oldendorff and Hauke Oldendorff to the Lübeck-based company.

Oldendorff also has two ultramax bulkers under construction at the Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co yard in China, both for delivery this coming summer.

Two capesize units are being built in Japan by the Namura yard, the first to be delivered in November of this year and the second to follow in February 2023.

The newbuilds, combined with charters, will give Oldendorff a fleet exceeding 750 vessels, making it one of Europe’s largest shipping companies.
