Patria Seaways on charter to Stena Line

The DFDS ferry Patria Seaways has begun its charter role on Stena Line’s Rosslare-Cherbourg route, after itsintroduction was was delayed by almost a week due to technical issues.

Stena have chartered the 152m vessel while Stena Horizon is redeployed to the Dublin-Holyhead to cover dry-docking on that route. The charter period is from 13 March to 14 April.

The 242-passenger/114-freight-trailer capacity Patria Seaways started its first 18-hour sailing from Rosslare on 18 March having been detained in Rosslare port since 12 March.

However, the scheduled 2100 crossing was delayed by an hour and a half, and the scheduled arrival time in Cherbourg was also slightly later than originally advertised.

Patria Seaways was built in 1992 as Stena Traveller and has a wide variety of operators in her 30year career, working on the North Sea and in the Baltic.
