Polsteam’s latest bulkers enter service

Polsteam Koprowo, the second in a series of 12 lakermax bulkcarriers, has entered service with Polish ship owner Polska Żegluga Morska, which operates under the name Polsteam.

The contract signed in 2022 between PŻM and the Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company group was for the 12 lakermax vessels, eight of which will have conventional propulsion units and four will have low-emission methanol propulsion.

Polsteam Koprowo entered service on 26 April 2024, taking steel from China and South Korea, whichitwilldeliver to Hamilton and Windsor on the US Great Lakes. The next vessel in the series, PolsteamLebsko, was launched a week later.

The ships measure 199.99m by 23.7m, with a deadweight of 37,000 tonnes.

Polsteam is one of the oldest Polish shipowners still in operation. It focuses on ferry and traditional transport around the world.
