PORT NEWS: Bad weather causes problems

The Lerwick Port Authority, together with the Tall Ship Race committee, decided to postpone the start of Race 2 from Lerwick to Stavanger for 24 hours due to bad weather on 24 July. This was due to a complex low near Denmark, which maintained strong northerly winds through the area. At the same time the cruise ship Crystal Serenity (2003/68,870gt, pictured below), which was due to arrive in Lerwick on 24 July, turned round just after midnight when off Arbroath and turned south to the river Forth, disappointing passengers wanting to see the Tall Ships.
