PORT NEWS: Linkspan collapses

The collapse of a linkspan at Cherbourg on 30 November 2010 claimed the life of a port worker. Following the sailing of a ferry from berth 3, the linkspan was in the process of being operated to its parked position by port workers when it capsized without warning, throwing two men into the water. One man was pulled to safety, and the body of the other was recovered the next day.
