Port of Tyne welcomes Disney Magic

As part of Disney Cruise Lines’ 12-night British Isles cruise, the 294m Disney Magic visited the Port of Tyne, near Newcastle on 7 June.  Although the ship was not open for visitors, many onlookers caught a glimpse of Disney Magic at popular viewing points on the river.

Nolan Gray, Port of Tyne Business Development Director, said:  “Disney Magic had a fantastic welcome into the Tyne at sunrise this morning and many of the 2000 plus passengers are spending the day at some of the North East’s great venues and attractions such as Alnwick Garden and Durham Cathedral, or nearby in Newcastle city centre and Tynemouth village.

“It has been a smooth operation with our pilot Russell Carnelley supporting the ship’s captain at the helm as it sailed into the mouth of the Tyne and our quayside crews safely berthing the ship.  We are delighted to welcome the passengers and crew and look forward to their next visit. ”

The ship is due to leave at about 5pm on 7 June. The port of Tyne is due to host a record 40 cruises this summer with 50 already booked for 2017.
