Stena Line welcomes Irish clearance

The Irish Competition Authority’s decision to clear Stena Line’s proposed acquisition of DFDS passenger and freight services and routes between Belfast/ Heysham and Belfast/Liverpool has been welcomed by Stena Line.

The company says it, “is pleased that the Irish Competition Authority has confirmed its approval of our acquisition and does not see this acquisition as substantially lessening competition for the provision of ferry services to or from Ireland. As the Irish and UK competition processes are separate, Stena Line now awaits the decision of the UK Competition Commission. This is expected by 25th July.”
