Queen Mary 2 comes to Portland

On 1 June 2024, Cunard’s liner Queen Mary was diverted to Portland from Le Havre because of bad weather. She was supposed to be at Zeebruge but got rerouted to Cherbourg and then came to Portland.

Portland Port as normal set up free shuttles into Weymouth where the Wessex Folk Festival was taking place near the harbour.

QM2 docked at the deepwater berth, and the French cruise ship Renaissance was alongside her at the old coal berth, being refuelled by Monjnasa Provider. The next stop for Renaissance was Honfleur.

Meanwhile QM2 returned to Southampton and was due to next head to Norway, returning to Southampton on 9 June prior to a six-night westbound transatlantic crossing.
