CONTAINER SHIP: First call for new service

On 26 March the 13,300TEU container ship CMA CGM Christophe Colomb arrived at Southampton’s DP World Container Terminal on the first call of the revised FAL1 Far East-Europe service. The French lines revised FAL 1 loop is being operated in conjunction with Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) and the United Arab Shipping Co (UASC) as part of a worldwide operating agreement, which started in March.

The service will be operated with nine vessels from CMA CGM and two from UASC, with capacities up to 13,300TEU. Christophe Colomb was turned around in under 24 hours and sailed for the German port of Hamburg the following day. The port rotation for the service is Southampton-Hamburg-Bremerhaven-Zeebrugge-Rotterdam-Le Havre-Malta-Khor Al Fakken-Jebel Ali-Ningbo-Shanghai-Xiamen-Hong Kong-Chiwan-Yantian-Port Kelang-Tangier Med-Southampton.
