Rimorchiatori Augusta takes delivery of new tug Capo Boeo

Damen Shipyards Group recently delivered an ASD Tug 2810 to Rimorchiatori Augusta. The vessel, named Capo Boeo, is operating in the Sicilian Port of Augusta. Rimorchiatori Augusta is a new venture for the Rimorchiatori Riuniti group and this is the first new vessel for the company, demonstrating its commitment to future operations in the port.

Capo Boeo arrived in Sicily on 2 December 2016 having sailed on her own keel from Damen Song Cam Shipyard in Vietnam. The client selected Damen due to requiring a fast delivery time for their vessel. Damen’s Vietnam yard is able to guarantee that thanks to its serial production the state-of-the-art shipyard fulfils the Damen philosophy of series production, producing 40 standard Damen tugs per year up to 60m in length.

Speaking of the delivery which took place on 7 December 2016 in the port of Augusta, Damen Sales Manager Andrea Trevisan said: “We are very proud to see this Damen tug sailing as the first vessel for the new venture Rimorchiatori Augusta and the first Damen ASD tug serving in Sicily and we wish her owners every success with their new vessel. At the same time, we extend our good wishes to the important petrochemical hub of Augusta, which is the largest in the Mediterranean Sea”.

Damen has delivered vessels to the Rimorchiatori Riuniti previously, with recent orders including two ASD Tugs 2913 and an ASD Tug 2411. Capo Boeo is the sixth Damen vessel to join the Rimorchiatori Riuniti fleet.

The vessel has been outfitted FiFi 1 fire-fighting equipment, upgraded towing hooks and has the necessary modifications required to meet Italian flag standards.
