Small ferry: Hotel guests left stranded

Guests and staff of the luxury Waterford Castle Hotel & Golf Resort were left stranded on the secluded private wooded island in September 2013 by a standoff between hotel owners and the ferry operator.

Cenocent, which runs the 24-hour cable-ferry Loreley on the three-minute hop between Grantstown and Little Island on the Waterford Estuary, was suddenly suspended while hotel guests were being served dinner. Police were called to the scene to resolve the dispute, which eventually led to a resumption of the ferry. JA
