SunStone’s latest expedition cruise vessel, Douglas Mawson launched

SunStone Maritime Group has successfully launched its latest expedition cruise vessel, Douglas Mawson, which is the seventh and final vessel in the Infinity Class series.

The company stated that this launch marks a significant milestone in completing the series. The team at SunStone enthusiastically anticipates the vessel’s upcoming sea trials next year.

Douglas Mawson has a capacity for up to 170 passengers and 102 crew, and it is certified as Ice Class 1A and Polar Class 6, ensuring safe and efficient operations in challenging environments. Key features include Safe Return to Port, Dynamic Positioning, and zero-speed stabilizers. The ship offers a variety of amenities such as a swimming pool, bar, restaurants, lounges, a library, gym, and spa.

Scheduled for delivery next year, Douglas Mawson will join the fleet of vessels operating on long-term charter agreements. It will be chartered to Aurora Expeditions and is set to embark on its inaugural voyage in the fall of 2025.
