World’s largest container ships calls at UK

UASC Barzan, which has recently taken the title of world’s largest container ship, arrived at DP World London Gateway shortly after 8pm on 21 September from Europoort.

She unloaded more than 4,000TEU containing about a million products brought from Asia which will be distributed across the UK.

The vessel, with a declared capacity of 18,691TEU (though it is widely believe the capacity is in fact as high as 19,870TEU) became the largest ship to berth in the Thames, when the ship was diverted from Felixstowe.

At 400m in length, the Barzan is the longest ship in the world, and was completed by Hyundai’s Samho facility in South Korea in May 2015.
