Cruise ship Norwegian Epic drydocked at Brest

On 27 September 2015 Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Epic arrived at Damen Shiprepair Brest for a scheduled refit and maintenance programme. The vessel remained in Brest’s largest drydock until 18 October.

The yard, besides undertaking the repair and maintenance works, provides all necessary logistic services to Norwegian Cruise Line’s arranged contractors.

‘This isn’t just another mega-class cruise ship’, explained Robert Diepenbroek, Managing Director at Damen Shiprepair Brest. Norwegian Epic has innovations never before seen at sea and is today’s fifth largest cruise vessel.

The work included installation of a new fire and cooling water supply system, an upgrade of the black and grey water disposal and installation of a sewage system with buffer tanks and pumps.

Damen Shiprepair Brest says it is ‘ready for the cruise industry’, and is ideally located as the closest yard to Southampton’s busy cruise port
