Disney Treasure Floated Out at Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg

On Saturday 3 August 2024 at Meyer Werft Shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, the new cruise ship Disney Treasure was floated out of the building to dock into the shipyard harbour. The “float out” celebrates the completion of the ship’s exterior and is a significant maritime tradition.

The ship will sail on her maiden voyage on 21 December 2024 from Port Canaveral, Florida.

A scene of excitement greeted the ship, as a group of cheering spectators gathered to watch the special construction milestone, which was accompanied by fireworks, musical fanfare and a special appearance by Voyager Minnie Mouse.

A tugboat led the way, guiding the ship’s stern through the narrow doorway of the build hall, with just three feet on either side of the vessel.

Disney Treasure is now ready for the finishing touches on her interiors as it continues to prepare for its transatlantic journey to its future home port in Florida.
