Glen Rosa on target for 2026

In a letter to the Scottish Parliament’s Net Zero, Energy & Transport Committee, Ferguson Marine CEO Graeme Thomson confirmed the latest progress on the new ferry Glen Rosa.

Key milestones reached include the removal of funnels on 20 May and the installation of silencers from 24 June, and dry dock scope finalisation with Dales Marine during July. LNG-related upgrades and galley equipment installation are also scheduled for the autumn.

Delivery of the vessel remains on track for Q2 2026, nearly eight years behind its original timeline, with a forecast cost of £172.5 million and £12.5 million risk contingency.

Combined with Glen Sannox, the cost of the two ferries now totals over £460 million, more than four times the original contract price.

Despite the setbacks, Ferguson Marine’s leadership insists that steady progress is being made and remains committed to delivering Glen Rosa to the highest standards.
