OOCL Celebrates the Naming of its last 24,188TEU Newbuilding

Orient Overseas Container Line Co Ltd (OOCL) recently commemorated the naming ceremony of its twelfth 24,188TEU eco-friendly container ship OOCL Portugal at the Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co Ltd (NACKS) shipyard.

The event was attended by Mrs Laura Liang Aron, Director of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Shanghai, who was invited to name the new vessel. Mr Ni Zhao, Regional Head (Shanghai) of the Hong Kong Shipping Registry, also graced the occasion as a special guest. Several guests, customers, and business partners bore witness to the successful completion of the ceremony.

During the ceremony, Michael Xu, Director and Member of the Executive Committee of OOCL, noted, “The naming of our final 24,188TEU new vessel signifies a significant milestone in the advancement of OOCL.

“The introduction of this series of mega vessels has not only enhanced operational safety but also provided us with the benefits of energy efficiency and economies of scale, enabling OOCL to deliver superior and more environmentally friendly services to bolster our competitiveness in the face of future challenges.
