New Cunarder Queen Anne makes her debut

Cunard’s newest cruise ship, Queen Anne, arrived at her home port of Southampton on 30 April 2024.

The 3,000-passenger ship was watched by hundreds of people lining the Solent as she made her debut in the south coast, coming from the Fincantieri Marghera shipyard in Venice, where she had been formally handed over to Cunard on 19 April.

New addition to the Cunard fleet mega cruise ship Queen Anne made her maiden call to Southampton this afternoon accompanied tugs whom saluted the cruise ship with a spectacular display from their water monitor. The 322.51 m cruise liner cost US $600 million and welcomes a maximum capacity of 3,000 guests aboard this Friday.

The impressive new 113,000gt ship, the company’s first new cruise ship in 14 years, departed on her maiden voyage to Lisbon on 3 May. She joins Cunard’s fleet of queens – Queen Mary 2, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria.

Following a 14-day cruise to the Canary Islands, she is due to embark on a voyage around the British Isles, with stops including Edinburgh, the Isle of Skye, Belfast and Cobh. The voyage also includes a naming ceremony at Cunard’s ‘spiritual home’ of Liverpool on 3 June.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, Katie McAlister, president of Cunard, said: ‘Not only does she reflect the Cunard distinctive style on the outside, the inside perfectly echoes the brand heritage with reimagined, elegant spaces and designs.’
