Fincantieri and Carnival Corporation Sign Agreement for Two New Aida Cruises Ships

Fincantieri and Carnival Corporation have signed an agreement for the design and construction of two new cruise ships for Aida Cruises, the leading company in the German-speaking cruise market.

The value of the agreement, subject to financing and other terms and conditions typical of this type of contract, has been defined as very significant (exceeding 2 billion euros).

For the first time, Fincantieri will build cruise ships for Aida Cruises, thus strengthening its strategic partnership with Carnival Corporation. The two ships will be delivered in early 2030 and late 2031.

Each unit will feature approximately 2,100 passenger cabins and will be equipped with multi-fuel engines, capable of operating on LNG, biodiesel and next-generation sustainable fuels, in line with the industry’s decarbonization goals.

Over the course of its history, Fincantieri has delivered a total of 75 cruise ships to Carnival Corporation for its various lines, further strengthening the long-standing collaboration between the two companies.

Pier Roberto Folgiero, CEO and General Manager of Fincantieri, commented:

“We are honored that our historic partner Carnival Corporation has chosen Fincantieri to build, for the first time in our history, ships for Aida Cruises. This milestone confirms our ability to serve the entire Carnival Corporation portfolio, while ensuring long-term visibility for our shipyards.

“The new ships will incorporate the most advanced technologies in terms of sustainability and efficiency, further strengthening the role of Fincantieri and Carnival Corporation as leaders in innovation in the cruise sector”.
