In November 2022 the future HMS Glasgow, first Type 26 frigate, is due to be launched from BAE Systems shipyard at Govan on the Clyde. with the assistance of a semi submersible barge, which will help to lower her into the water for the first time, before she is towed to BAE Systems shipyard drydock for further fitting out.
The build process of the Batch 1 ships has been very slow to date. The future HMS Glasgow (F88) is currently scheduled to enter service by the end of 2028, 11 years after being laid down.
However, all eight frigates are expected to be completed by the mid-2030s, with all built at BAE Systems shipyards at Govan and fitted out at Scotstoun.
