LNG CARRIERS: Maersk to offload LNG

The Maersk group has announced plans to sell its LNG division, which operates eight liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, stating that it wishes to ‘reallocate resources to other parts of the group’. The Maersk LNG fleet has suffered through a depressed market in recent years, which has made some ships idle, but Japan’s growing demand for LNG has seen the fleet reactivated recently, along with a sharp rise in LNG vessel earnings.
